This is not set in stone, but if you are looking to secure a popular venue, entertainment transport then making early enquiries for your chosen date is essential.
Take a look at our perfect timing page for help on planning your day.
One of the first things to think about when planning a wedding is how much you can afford to spend.
Look at your finances and savings, how much do you wish to spend on the venue, flowers, cars, cake, dress, all of which will require a deposit to secure your chosen date. If you think that your parents or a relative may help pay for the wedding then talk to them they can also help you decide what you can afford.
We don’t want to think about what might go wrong with your wedding, but be prepared.
First things first – Wedding insurance can be arranged from the moment you start planning your big day. Just having the peace of mind that should something go wrong with either your wedding or honeymoon you’ll be covered.
It is so easy to get caught up in the excitement of being engaged and you may already know who your maid of honour, bridesmaids, ushers, best man, is going to be.
If you’re not sure then don’t worry take your time, think of the people who can help and will best support you on your special day. Think of your budget too, the bigger your bridal party the higher your budget will be on flowers, buttonholes and outfits.
